Product Review: NARS Eyeshadow in Silent Night

You know how Sephora strategically places little goodies all around the cash register to entice you while you’re waiting in line? Ever wonder who impulsively decides to buy that stuff? Yeah… that would be me. Yesterday, I couldn’t keep my eyes off of a NARS Single Eye Shadow in Silent Night.

First of all, it is unlike any other gold shadow that I’ve ever used. Instead of just being shimmery, it actually has a flakier consistency — The smooth shadow is flecked with larger pieces of gold foil, which gives it an interesting look. It also makes application a little more involved, because you have to dab it on to distribute the flecks instead of just sweeping it on like a regular shadow.

I always love to play around with my eyeshadows, and one of the easiest ways to get a different look is to add liquid to get a stronger color. I tried mixing the pigment with a little bit of water, but it seemed to dull the shimmer. Instead, mixing the shadow with eye drops (I use Clear Eyes) turns it into a smooth golden paint. I’d only suggest using it this way if you want intense color!
