A few days ago, survey results from AlixPartners were revealed that predict consumer spending trends for 2010. Cosmetics were one of the top items that women said they would not spend as much on in the new year (the number was down 8.7% from last year). I don’t really see myself cutting back on cosmetics too much, but I also am pretty controlled when it comes to spending my budget on them. Here is what three of your FlauntMe bloggers spend right now on cosmetics!
Jinra: “For me, last month…at least $100. I have close to 300 dollars worth of MAC eyeshadow that I don’t use -_-”
Sidory: “I spend more than the average person, because of my trade. (Editor’s Note: Sidory is a makeup artist, in case you hadn’t caught on to that!) I replenish my kit every 6-10 months. I buy skin care each time I replenish my kit as well. What I spend most on is foundation, sponges, mascara wands, mascara and cheek tints.
What I find myself splurging on is new colors, new seasonal collections, and lots of pigments. I can never have enough.
The overall amount I can spend is $500.00 bucks to replenish everything I’m low on (mind you I get amazing discounts on makeup through pro discount programs too), when I splurge on the seasonal, new stuff about $100.00.”
Kristen: I’m pretty good when it comes to budgeting for cosmetics. I’d say that I spend the most money on skincare. I use everything (cleanser, toner, moisturizer, etc.) from LUSH, which can get pricey, but I only have to buy every 3 months or so. My big splurge is definitely on my nails, which can cost between $35 to $50 (depending on the design) every 5 weeks. I wanted to have them done for the holidays, but I might have to cut back now!
I only buy new colors and products when I have some extra cash to spend, so for the most part I stick with my old stuff. I’ll be all set for a while since my sister bought me the Tarte Treasure Chest (Sold Out!) for Christmas! I’d say that I spend around $60 per month on beauty.
Do you think you’ll spend more or less on cosmetics next year? How much do you spend now?
