Maybe it has something to do with the recession or our newfound love for natural beauty. Whatever the case, we were all still wearing makeup in 2009, but we went for makeup that gave us a more natural look. You know, wearing makeup without looking like we were wearing makeup. Sounds like it could be a bit confusing, but it makes perfect sense!

Wouldn’t it be amazing to be a complete 100% natural beauty? As in, you roll out of bed in the morning and with no makeup on, your face is completely flawless? Well, there aren’t too many people like that out there (if any?). But there is plenty of makeup that will make you look like a natural beauty! Some of my celebrity role models for natural beauty in 2009 include Lauren Conrad, Nicole Kidman, and Kate Hudson.

Our favorite makeup picks for natural beauty this year include tinted moisturizers. They’re super light, making them the perfect alternative to foundations. They’ll give you a bit of color without being pasty or obvious. Plus, you need to be moisturizing anyway! My favorite tinted moisturizers are Chanel’s Hydromax + Active Teinte and Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer. Both have SPFs for an added benefit!

Also, make sure your blush goes on totally naturally. As in, your cheeks should look like they’re glowing naturally and not like you painted them with red powder. Of course, my top pick for natural blush is Nars Orgasm. I swear, everyone will think you simply have a natural glow about you.

And your lips should have a nice natural gloss on them; no bright colors or gooey-ness. I’m a big fan of Bare Escentuals 100% Natural Lip Gloss, especially in colors Chiffon and Wild Honey.

Don’t forget to always add a little mascara! The natural look isn’t going anywhere fast and will definitely still be around in 2010. Go grab your makeup…. so you can look like you aren’t wearing any!
