Last summer, Beyonce sported shiny silver on her hands. Brooke Shields work a metallic blue shade on her toes, and Brooke Burns wore silver. No, it wasn’t the return of the 80s, but rather a hot trend that was worn both on the runway, and on the red carpet by celebrities such as Lauren Conrad, Kate Winslet, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and so many more. Whether you love the look, or hate it, plenty of hot colors came out this year and they blend with most outfits. Although nearly every nail polish line has created amazing metallic shades (not going to name them all!), here are a few of my personal favorites:
For those who liked the metallic eggplant shade that model Eva Herzigova wore on her toes this summer, but were scared of the vampy look, try a lighter shade with Duri’s “354 Iced Plum” from the Fall/Winter 2009 collection. (available at drugstores nationwide for $5 or at duricosmetics.com).
Deborah Lippmann’s green metallic “Don’t Tell Mama” a deep blue-green shimmer or “Marquee Moon” with silver sequins…hello disco ball. (see lippmanncollection.com for store locations and more details).
Borghese launched a limited edition collection called Festivo. In this collection–which was inspired by the rich colors of brilliant jewels and lush fabrics–were two gorgeous metallics called Gusto Golddust and Prima Platinum. (Each retails for $8 and are still available at drugstores nationwide).
Another good option is Sephora Brand Metallic Nail Polish. Try Gothik, a dark smoky gray; Rock, a light pewter silver; or Fusion, a muted gold. ($5 at sephora.com).
