2009 was the year for expressing yourself through your nail polish. And bright colors it was. OPI even came out with a whole line of brightly colored polishes that were sure to be noticed.
There are a few reasons why bright nail polish colors were so popular in 2009. First of all, the economic outlook was pretty dreary. Since lots of us were feeling pretty “blah” in other areas of our lives, we wanted to brighten things up a bit with bright, colorful nail polishes. No matter what your mood is, brightly colored nails can lift your spirits in a second.
Second of all, because the economic situation was pretty horrible, many of us didn’t have a whole lot of money to be spending on new pieces for our wardrobe, so we had to express ourselves in different ways. Painting our nails was an inexpensive alternative to buying a new outfit. And just like our clothing, we can change our polish up every day (if we want) to show our various moods. Whether it was bright green, yellow, or any of the other colors of the rainbow, we became much less apprehensive about the colors we thought were considered acceptable and took some major color risks.
Some of our favorite nail polish of 2009 was definitely from OPI’s line of Brights that they created by teaming up with Paige Denim. Thanks to OPI, we’re even over our major fear of blue nail polish. Bright polish is definitely a trend we hope sticks around for 2010, though we hope the economy brightens up a bit with it!
