Archive for December, 2009

The eighties were filled with trends of our favorite pop culture icons. We rocked florescent and neon colored clothing because of Madonna. We worked out in spandex because of Olivia Newton John. We even copied Jennifer Beal’s moves in Flashdance by dancing like a maniac. But how has this decade affected the beauty trends that we see today? More »

Don’t look now, but 2009 is coming quickly to an end! Not only does this mark the end of another year, but also the end of a decade. It doesn’t seem like it was so long ago that we were ringing in the 2000s (remember all of the hooplah over the New Millenium and how either the world was coming to an end or all of the computers were going to crash? Thank goodness that didn’t happen… that would mean no FlauntMe!). In order to help you let go of this past year and decade, we’ll be revisiting our favorite beauty trends. Here’s to a bright and beautiful 2010! More »

A few days ago, survey results from AlixPartners were revealed that predict consumer spending trends for 2010. Cosmetics were one of the top items that women said they would not spend as much on in the new year (the number was down 8.7% from last year). I don’t really see myself cutting back on cosmetics too much, but I also am pretty controlled when it comes to spending my budget on them. Here is what three of your FlauntMe bloggers spend right now on cosmetics! More »

For those of you who are planning a big night out or a quiet night in with friends and family, i am sure you want to look your best to ring in the New Year. Now, if you are anything like me, it never hurts to learn some new tricks, and lord knows I pretty much do the same routine day after day. More »

From Girlybubble: This picture does no justice as to how pretty/sparkly/glittery/glamorous-feeling my nails are! Have you ever walked by a clothing store an a saw a mannequin wearing a shiny sequin top with all the lights reflecting on it? That would be my analogy as to describing this. More »

Wishing you a safe, happy and beautiful holiday!

I have really, really pale skin. Like, so pale that I look at the sun and get a burn. So pale that people I met at a friend’s birthday party knew me as “that red girl” after I spent an unfortunate hour in Central Park without sunscreen earlier in the day. Not good. Today, I read a story about a new drug that an Australian company developed to protect your skin from harmful UV rays AND allow you to get a tan at the same time. Is this too good to be true? More »

From Girlybubble: Of all beauty parlors I have ever set foot in or seen pictures of, Michael Angelo’s Wonderland Beauty Parlor in New York City really sets itself apart as being literally, a wonderland. Looking at these submitted photos, you kind of wonder if you’re looking at somewhere Alice in Wonderland would go to get her hair did or basically anywhere out of a fairytale story. According to it’s thisclose to getting 5 stars from just 21 reviews. If you’re familiar with Yelp, you’ll know that it is pretty epic. More »

Beauty Ticket is beauty web site that sells many of my favorite beauty brands at prices up to 85% off. Yep, can you believe that? My favorite premium brands like Stila, Smashbox, Pop Beauty, Yves St. Laurent, Vincent Longo and much more are at incredible low prices all the time. More »

It was announced earlier this month that Julia Roberts has been appointed Lancôme’s newest beauty ambassador. If ever I’ve had to say “DUH” really loudly at a cosmetics company, it’d have to be Lancôme. Duh, Julia oozes beauty and glamor. The beauty world’s biggest reference in my opinion would have to be the 73rd Academy Awards ceremony in 2001 where she snagged best actress wearing that vintage Valentino dress. More »

A few years ago, my younger sister went to Greece during her summer vacation. When she came back, she had all kinds of fun stuff to share: A flowy, printed cotton skirt (that I imagine I would have looked divine in whether sitting by the clear-blue ocean or jumping on the back of a vespa. Or, in reality, sitting in my cubicle), a strong bottle of the anise-scented ouzo that Greece is famous for, and a freshly-packaged bottle of body lotion made with natural fruits and oils. According to my sister, the lotions and other skincare products were made in the store in vats with fresh ingredients. The lotion was so moisturizing, and it smelled delicious! More »

On the set of Demi Moore’s photo shoot for the Harper’s Bazaar April cover, Demi tested out the new Helena Rubinstein Lash Queen Mascara with stylist Rachel Zoe (Demi Moore, by the way, is the face of the new Helena Rubinstein All You’ve Ever WANTED fragrance, and looks about the same age as Ashton in the ads). In any event, she is giving beauty lovers an opp to try the new mascara. More »

In the words of one certain great hip hop artist by the name of Lil’ Mama, “My lip gloss is poppin’. My lip gloss is cool. The boys do indeed, keep stoppin’.” These words are taken directly from the lyrics of one of my personal anthems, Lil’ Mama’s Lip Gloss song. The song echoes loudly the idea that lip gloss in any beauty situation, whether you’re the lip gloss wear-er or accidental receiver, never disappoints. Unless you’re dealing with lip gloss pots.
