Whether you believe in them or not, wives tales are just…wivess tales. The life and times of my eyelashes are testament to this. In the Philippines, there’s an old wives’ tale that claims cutting a baby’s eyelashes will allow them to grow darker and longer when adults. Although I was born in America, this never stopped my mom from cutting my eyelashes as a baby.
Before you I stand, in all my short eyelashed glory, to tell you that there’s no proof that this wives’ tale is true. At 25, the promise of longer lashes has never come into fruition. My eyelash life up until now, has been a sad trial and error with almost every mascara brand, even ones that vibrate, for the pursuit of longer lashes. As for fake eyelashes and eyelash extensions, let’s just say that I’m either scared or can’t afford it.
Let this blog post serve as a warning: Don’t cut your baby’s eyelashes. It probably won’t work and it’s…kind of dangerous. (Hello, sharp objects in front of your baby’s eyes!)
Hear or come across any bogus old wives’ tales regarding beauty? Spill it!
