Not wearing eye makeup primer when you have eye makeup on is one of the most unforgivable face offenses one can commit. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t wear it. Unless you have something severely against getting the most out of your eye shadow in terms of color and wear duration. I’ve yet to come across a makeup primer that didn’t execute the promise of brighter, intense eye shadow color that stays on forever. Despite this, there are some primers that tend to do better than others.

Skin Profile:
Oily. Really oily.

1. Urban Decay Primer Potion: With my oily skin, this eye makeup primer keeps eyeshadow looking fresh all day long. There is no such thing as getting eye make up in your crease. I’ve also heard some people put it on their armpits to prevent from sweating profusely. This sounds weird but if you use it, you’ll understand. (Pictured, left.)

2. MAC Shadestick:
MAC Shadestick has about the same staying power as Urban Decay’s Primer Potion. The only difference is that it’s in stick form and comes in a wide array of colors. No single eye shadow ever looks the same, depending on what color of Shadestick you use. If you’re super adventurous and love experimenting with the possibilities of color, this product is for you.

3. MAC Paint: Same deal as the MAC Shadestick, only MAC Paint’s consistency isn’t very solid and comes in a mini-paint tube. While this is a decent primer, it doesn’t keep make-up on fresh as long as the previous two. With my oily skin, eye makeup stays fresh for at least 5-6 hours.

4. MAC Paint Pot: MAC Paint Pot is basically MAC Paint’s younger sister but…in pot form. Since it’s got a creamier consistency, eye makeup doesn’t stay on as long. I’d give it a guarantee of 4 hours. What I like about the Paint Pot is that the primer colors tend to be shiny-er. It’s probable you can layer it over MAC Paint for longer lasting eye makeup thats got shine to it.
