I have been battling razor burn on my legs ever since I began shaving. I still envy girls that have flawlessly smooth legs, especially during the summertime. Although I still can’t shave my legs every day, I have at least found a way to manage my sensitive skin and prevent that awful burn and red, raised bumps.
Unfortunately, I have had to alter my moisturizing regimen for my legs on a regular basis. A certain lotion will work temporarily, but eventually it’s like my skin ends up not responding as well as it did in the beginning. However, one ingredient that has remained the same in my moisturizing recipe is 100 percent pure lavender essential oil. Lavender is a special essential oil, because it’s gentle enough to be applied directly to the skin. However, if you’re going to try using it, you should test it on a small area of your skin and wait 24 hours to ensure that you don’t have a reaction.
What I do is add a few drops of lavender to whichever moisturizer I’m using at the time. Initially, I started using basic vitamin E cream. Then I was having wonderful results with Vaseline’s Clinical Therapy, but now I have moved onto Cetaphil.
After I get out of the shower, I put a generous amount of lotion in my hand and drop three to four drops of lavender into the lotion and mix it before applying it to my skin. If I’m diligent about using my moisturizing regimen, I can shave every other day.
Razor burn is painful and embarrassing. When it’s bikini season, the last thing you want to have is visibly irritated skin…trust me, I know from experience.
