For this week’s YouTube tutorial, I actually tried out the method being taught! Water marbling is how you can create a tie-dye sort of look on your nails, and it is actually a lot of fun to do! You can see my results above, which actually look a lot cooler in real life. It’s hard to take pictures without good lighting! I did two “accent” nails as the video suggests, because I didn’t have the time to do my full hands.
For my nails, I started with a coat of OPI’s Tickle My France-y (from their France Collection a few years ago). Then, for the marbled fingers I swirled together OPI’s Russian Navy (blue) and Nefertiti by Lippmann Collection. The gold polish was a little bit thicker, so I had to do more swirling with it. You have to be really careful and just nudge the surface of the water with your stick, because full-out swirling it around will just make the polish bunch up.
I think this video is really well done, and now I’m dreaming up all kinds of marbled combinations. I might try this with a matte polish to see if it works as well! Do you have any tips for doing this kind of nail art? I want to see your results if you try this out!
