One of my younger friends is so excited to go to her school’s sweetheart dance, and it kind of made me wish that I was back in high school again. Of course, that feeling passed quickly. Anyway, we were brainstorming different ways that she could do her makeup, and I thought I would share some of our ideas.

First, she has already bought a fabulous dress, which is a shorter black cocktail dress with a red rose detailing on the one shoulder. Even though you might not be attending a dance, you can still turn it up a notch and wear a dress for your date or even if you’re just hanging out with your single gals.

I think a simple yet striking makeup palette for Valentine’s Day would be a gray smoky eye and pink lip gloss. To add some drama and glam, go for cat eyes and choose a shimmery gray eyeshadow for your brow bone and corner of your eye. Also, you can layer a complimentary shimmery blush on top of your matte blush but only apply it to the cheekbone. Highlighting this area as well as the inside corner of your eye with a shadow or highlighting stick will make your skin glow in soft lighting.
