American Apparel had a minor setback today when an employee forwarded a confidential company email to online news website Jezebel. The email instructed employees to remove the product from shelves and store it in the back until further notice. The employee also disclosed that they had been told on a call that the polish contained “hazardous material”. After some buzz circulated from the story, American Apparel reps responded by telling concerned customers that the problem was actually with the bottles and not with the polish.

It turns out that there have been some issues with online customers receiving broken bottles in the mail, so American Apparel is working to get new, stronger bottles for the same polish. They say that the polish should be back on shelves within 10 days.

The nail polish line was just introduced a little over a month ago, and has had some pretty good reviews from nail polish blogs like The Daily Nail. If you have a first-run bottle of the polish, you can bring it into the store to exchange for either two new bottles of polish, or a $10 American Apparel gift card.
