Awesome or Weird: Sephora’s Tonytail Wrap

The blogging girls over at Sephora’s beauty blog wrote about this new product from the namesake line: The Tonytail Wrap ($9). This is pretty much just thick strands of fake hair attached to an elastic ponytail holder, so that you can achieve the same look that Jessica Simpson is sporting in the photo below.

I think it’s a cool idea and everything, but I don’t know how necessary it is. I do this with my own hair all the time. All you have to do is leave a little bit of hair out of your ponytail when you tie it up, and then wrap it around to hide the elastic. I guess this would work for people with short hair that’s not long enough to make it around the ponytail, but I don’t know if your hair would be long enough to pull up in the first place if it were that short.

They are also introducing the Thick Braidie Headband ($10), which is a braid on an elastic that you wear around your head for a sort of bohemian look. This seems more practical to me, since the wrapped braid look is a little tougher to achieve with natural hair.

Both items are pretty cheap, so they might be worth a try if they match your hair color. Would you be willing to wear the fake hair?
