The couture shows have been happening this week in Paris, which means that I’ve been drooling over them all week. What I wouldn’t give to be there taking in the couture and eating copious amounts of opèra pastries! Ah, well, that’s what the internet is for, right? Some fashion writers have been a little bit critical of the collections, but one that seems to be popular with everyone is Chanel.
Let’s start with the clothes. Oh, goodness, the clothes! Someday when I am a rich old lady, I hope to be clad in Chanel tweed every day. I love this suit with the crystal embellishments, and I love the delicate sheer neck scarf worn with it even more — so ladylike but fun at the same time! According to a press release sent out by Chanel, some of the pieces that were done with hidden seams took around 35 hours of work! It’s really incredible when you think of the handwork done on these pieces.
The makeup and hair looks were just downright fun. First of all, that coral lip color is so energetic! I love the contrast against the pastel clothes. The eyes were kept relatively simple with a pretty silvery shadow and dark winged liner. The hair was just fantastic — big, pillow-like puffs with huge floral bows in them. They also clipped in silvery blue strands into the updos, which seems to be a growing trend on the runway.
What did you think of this collection? Do you lust after these dresses as much as I do?
