So it turns out that chocolate does the body good inside and out (did you read this piece in the New York Times yesterday about chocolate and yoga?)! Having a piece of chocolate usually makes my day a little brighter, but did you know that it also has anti-inflammatory properties? Neither did I! I first saw chocolate wax being offered at a salon a few years ago, and I assumed that it was just being offered as a novelty. Then I looked into it further and learned that it does serve a purpose! A quality glitter eye shadow is hard to come by, because many can be so heavy and flaky. But maybe the worst part about them is that they tend to migrate from your eyes to all over your face. Lorac’s Glam Rocks Loose Metallic Eye Shadow is a light mineral powder eye shadow that adds a shimmery color to your eyelids in a flirty way. More »

I’m not exactly sure how long Demeter Fragrances has been around, but it has definitely been a while. I remember being in junior high and sampling every Demeter spray in the collection pretty much every time that I went to the mall (yep, I even loved beauty back then!). They’ve always had some pretty off-the-wall scents, but most of them are shockingly accurate. I remember one of my favorites was Tomato, because it absolutely smelled like the tomato plants my mom grew in her garden.
I also recall loving the Sex on the Beach scent, although at the time I thought it was just a funny name and not a drink. Demeter has a whole line of cocktail-inspired scents that are definitely worth checking out! More »

Do you ever wish that your hair was as perfectly conditioned and shiny as the girls in shampoo ads? It seems that there is a delicate balance between well-conditioned hair and greasy hair, and it’s really easy to make your mane too oily. In India, women use coconut oil to obtain those beautiful, glossy locks of hair. More »

From Girlybubble: If more fruits and vegetables were served in this manner, children would probably be more inclined to eat them– it’s just a thought, albeit a fanciful and impractical one. Here are a few fruit and vegetable sculptures mixed in along with some more elaborate ones you can admire. More »

American Apparel had a minor setback today when an employee forwarded a confidential company email to online news website Jezebel. The email instructed employees to remove the product from shelves and store it in the back until further notice. The employee also disclosed that they had been told on a call that the polish contained “hazardous material”. After some buzz circulated from the story, American Apparel reps responded by telling concerned customers that the problem was actually with the bottles and not with the polish. More »

The blogging girls over at Sephora’s beauty blog wrote about this new product from the namesake line: The Tonytail Wrap ($9). This is pretty much just thick strands of fake hair attached to an elastic ponytail holder, so that you can achieve the same look that Jessica Simpson is sporting in the photo below. More »

From Girlybubble: There is no doubt that I love cupcakes. Every time I eat one, my taste buds do back flips. If I have a bad day, when I eat a cupcake, my troubles go away. They make me happy. The thing about cupcakes is that whether you are 5 or 75 years old, you are never too old for one. Aside from the baker, what makes a cupcake is not only its taste, but a cute design too. This led me to find my Top 10 Cutest Cupcakes. More »

Ok, so I admit that I’ve been absolutely ignoring the Heidi Montag plastic surgery story. This is mainly because, even before the surgeries, not many things make me more sick to my stomach than Heidi. For those not up to speed with this story, basically the reality TV star had more than 10 plastic surgeries in one day, and has now made her story incredibly public by splashing it all over People magazine and sitting for TV interviews. I’m so torn on the subject — part of me feels so badly for this girl, because she has obviously fallen victim to the media’s criticism. Another part of me is sickened by the fact that she is so eager to use this to gain media attention. Take a look at the interview that she did with Access Hollywood. More »

It’s quite rare that I can walk into a Sephora store and not stop to smell the delicious Philosophy 3-in-1 shampoo, body wash and bubble bath. This line has been around for so long, and they have developed an amazing range of scents that are so spot-on to their food counterparts that I sometimes wish I could eat them (not a good idea with soap, btw). Today I was dreaming about creating my own cupcake-scented shower with Philosophy soaps! More »
