Yesterday, Diane von Furstenberg showed her Fall 2010 collection at Bryant Park. The clothing was the ladylike edgy style that we’ve come to expect from the line, and the colors stayed fairly dark and neutral with pops of color thrown in. The makeup focused on a statement eye that was beyond smoky.

It looks as though the makeup artists did a lot of layering to achieve this sultry look. The base of the eye is black, smudged all the way up to the brow bone and winged upward. Then, a bright blue (almost teal) pigment was used to line the eyes above and below.

This is a pretty heavy duty look and I don’t know how well it will translate into real life, but you can definitely get a similar look by using some of M.A.C’s professional-grade products. I’d recommend the creamy Paint Pot in Blackground for your black base, because you can really control how dark you want the color. Then, you can use any bright blue eyeshadow, but pigments are more concentrated and deliver a stronger punch of color. You could try the M.A.C Pigment in Teal.
