I blogged about dry shampoo last week, so I was amused that TRESemme, one of New York Fashion Week’s big sponsors, was promoting their FreshStart Dry Shampoo at the tents this past week. I was able to snag a sample from them, and I tested it out today to see how it held up.
First let me admit: I was out late and had to get up early the next day, so I didn’t have enough time to do a full wash and dry of my hair. I know, gross. My hair is very fine, so the slightest bit of oil weighs it down in no time. I followed the instructions, which said to shake the bottle, spray all over the hair and let it sit for a minute or two, and then brush out and style.
Pros:
– I noticed a difference immediately in the way that my hair looked. No more oily roots!
– The product gave my hair a texture that was a little less silky than my product-less hair. This is a good thing for me, since I can barely get a bobby pin to stay in my hair without lots of product.
– Kept my hair looking good all day long!
Cons:
– It comes in an aerosol can and has a sort of chemical smell, which I am not so fond of.
– It does leave a fine white powder on your hair, which as a blond is not an issue, but could be for someone with darker hair. It should disperse when you brush it out though.
I would suggest using this and then pulling your hair up into a bun or a twist, because although it does really help with oiliness, you might still be able to notice some weight on your roots if you wear your hair down. Not bad for a quick fix solution on those mornings when you just need an extra half hour of sleep! Oh, and it’s only $4.99 at Walgreens, so you can’t really NOT try it.
