I’m definitely all about preserving your skin, and I think it’s beneficial to start while you’re young and continue maintaining it as you age. I’m definitely not ready for Botox or other similar cosmetic procedures, but I do think microdermabrasion is a great starting point.
In comparison to other individuals, I get modest microderms, because I never let them put the setting very high so I don’t get track marks on my face like some people do. It’s actually a quick process that rejuvenates the skin. I enjoy having one done when I’m having acne issues, because it seems to help those problem areas heal faster. From experience, I think the sensitive areas of your face such as your cheeks and upper lip can be uncomfortable, but I just recite this motto in my head, “Beauty is pain.” For the most part, the microderm feels like a much-needed exfoliation, and I especially enjoy it on my forehead and chin…probably because the skin is tougher there and can handle it better.
If you’re thinking about having this treatment done, it’s best to go gradual (start out slow and work up to a higher setting, if needed). Overall, my face always feels smoother and has a healthier glow, so I think it’s definitely worth the hurt.
