Today, Allure magazine’s beauty blog linked to a really intriguing photo collection by photographer Phillip Toledano. The photos are portraits of people who have undergone extreme plastic surgeries, and Mr. Toledano raises the question of what we define as “beauty” when we create it ourselves.

Flipping through the images, I found an eerie similarity between many of the faces, both male and female, almost as if there is some kind of formula or default design in plastic surgery that is considered to be beautiful. I’m interested to know what you think of the images too! You can use the arrows at the top of the page to navigate through the photos. Please be warned that some of the images contain partial-nudity.
