It has been a while since I’ve been able to get back to Hello Beautiful salon in Brooklyn to get my nails done. I really like getting Calgel on my nails, since my natural nails are sort of weak and break so easily. Calgel is a really great alternative to acrylic or traditional UV gel because it soaks off in acetone and requires only a little buffing before application, so it isn’t damaging and there is no drilling involved!

This week, the weather in NYC is starting to warm up. It was almost 60 degrees today! What a change! I really wanted to get something bright and fresh on my nails, and I had visions of ballerina pink in my head when I walked into the salon this morning.

Naomi, the super-talented nail artist at Hello Beautiful, always comes up with something I love. I told her “pink,” and she produced this awesome design. First, she created a gradation, or fading, on the tips of my nails with a light pink color. Then, the fun started! She brushed a smattering of pink glitter that has tiny, holographic confetti pieces in it across the center of each nail. She topped it all off with 3D art on my ring fingers: a little white bow with some rhinestones on each hand!

Naomi does everything by hand, so she actually sculpted those little white bows out of acrylic powder onto my nails! She has such amazing attention to detail that I’m always eager to see what she’ll come up with next! This design is so girly and pretty — it’s definitely making me feel like a princess!
