High•light - An area or a spot in a drawing, painting, or photograph that is strongly illuminated. To make prominent; emphasize.

Like in any painting, highlighting is done by the artist to give focus, emphasis or dimension to his or her work.

The same principles go for beauty. Bronzers, blush, contour products, highlighters are often used to get these focused areas to pop and become illuminated. The bronzers and contour products create color and depth.

The power points for highlighting are under the brow, eyelid, high planes of the cheeks, bridge of the nose, chin, inner corners of the eyes and forehead.

Try This Product:

Eye Illusion - Smashbox Cosmetics
Contains three iridescent shades, pale gold, ice blue and pale pink.
You can use these to highlight the power points on the face or you can use it to change and create new colors, by applying them over eyeshadows, eyeliner or worn alone.
