Contouring the eyes can be tricky, without the right tools and techniques it can look very messy. I learned by practicing on myself and on others. Here are a few simple techniques to try out.

Tips- Use a crease brush, usually those have a pointy end. The density of the brush coupled by the technique will deposit color in the crease of the eyelid and blend out the color while doing so. For something more dramatic, use a brush that’s thick and dense, so the color will deposit stronger amounts of color.

Techniques – I call it the sweeper, by sweeping the brush in a back and fourth motion the color will deposit blended amounts of color evenly. Eyeshadow colors I recommend to get the best results are darker, richer shades like chocolate brown, black and plum. Dark colors typically add depth to the eyes.

I typically like to start contouring color in the outer corner of the eye and slowly work my way into the middle of the lids.

Also, use a light eyeshadow all over the lower lids before applying your contour color. This effect of light vs. dark, gives the eyes a three-dimensional look.
