Beautypackaging.com announced on May 18, 2010 that The Estee Lauder Companies has signed an agreement to acquire Smashbox Beauty Cosmetics Inc. This acquisition is expected to close in July 2010.

I was working for Mac Cosmetics before they were merged with Estee Lauder. Before the merge, Mac Cosmetics had a strong, exclusive following and a noticeably slow production turnaround. Products were constantly out of stock and always on back order. Lauder came in and helped push the production out faster, also creating numerous product launches all throughout the year, more then ever before.

Dean Davis, Smashbox’s co-creator and CEO says, “The Estee Lauder Companies is the ideal home for Smashbox.” He believes they share the same creative culture and ingenuity. We shall see, wont we?
