1940’s Retro Glam Look

I have a shoot coming up with a pop vocalist. The concept of the look is inspired by the 1940’s. So, after much research I was able to find a beauty icon to base my beauty look around.

Dita Von Teese
She continues to keep this retro beauty look alive today. Her perfectly arched brows, her precise eye lining and her glamorous red lips.

Here is my makeup concept and plan for the shoot.

Face and Cheeks
The foundation is very matte and the cheeks are contoured heavily to create strong cheekbone angles. An angled blush brush can create these contours.

Eyes
I will sweep a neutral bone or light shimmer gold color in the lids. Then I will softly blend a brown or berry color in the crease to add more contour and depth to the eyes. Line the upper lash line with a black liquid liner to really enhance the shape with strong contrast. The lower lashes will be left clean and open.

Lips
Prime and line the lips, create a strong line around the corners of the mouth by applying powder or concealer just along the edge of the lip line for a smooth polished line all around. Apply a red lipstick and follow up with a clear gloss for shine.
