Usually what some girls love about the holidays is putting on some nail polish not just a regular nail polish but glitter nail polish. But what girls hate the most is removing the glittery nail polish. The biggest names in the manicure biz gave us tips and tricks on how to remove those glitters in our nails.

Here are some of the tips:

1. The manicurist extraordinaire and founder of butter London, Nonie Creme said that glitter is really difficult to remove but we should never pick it off because we remove little chunks of our nails which can damage.

2. Celebrity manicurist Beth Fricke said that the best way to remove that glittery nail polish is to use an acetone based polish remover like Cutex Quick & Gentle Nail Polish Remover ($2.49).
We should first soak a cotton pad or a cotton round in remover after that place it over your nails, firmly pressing it down for a minute. Letting them soften up a little with the pad on top. After pressing the cotton round against your nails, get a fresh remover-soaked pad to take off the remaining polish.

3. Celebrity manicurist April Foreman then suggested that we should swipe the cotton in a downward motion away from the cuticle. This ensures that you don’t press the glitter into the cuticle and surrounding skin.

She also said that if the glitter is just too stubborn and won’t come off. Follow it up by using a facial exfoliating pad for a second pass over nails. It helps grabs the remains of glitter leaving your nails completely clean.

4. Manicurist Susan Nam who owns Polished Beauty Bar also gave another way to remove your glittery nail polish. She said that you can pour an entire bottle of acetone base remover into a bowl and soak all your nails for at least 2-3 minutes. The polish should come off completely. She also said that if you let the remover sit in the bowl for a while you will see all the glitter sinking to the bottom at which you can pour the remover back to the bottle until the next time you need to remove your nail polish. Use a coffee filter when pouring it back to prevent the glitters to go back to the bottle.

5.Nonie Creme said that if you plan on repainting your nails right after removing the glitter you should immediately do it after using the remover. But if not she advises us to wash our hand thoroughly and rubbing a capful of olive oil into our nails.
