Hairstylist Guido Palau’s plans for Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2011 runway show has taken some inspiration from the heady days of Studio 54. This theme of big hair involves clouds of rickracked curls that were created on girls with longer hair. A look that transfered over onto the catwalks for Topshop Unique and Sonia Rykiel, and is one eye-catching sight to see.

Palau named it his “Grace Coddington frizz” in homage to American Vogue’s creative director. Thickening lotion was used to prime the hair, then it was blitzed with fixative spray before he clamped each section with a straightening iron and removed the pins that added an indent to the hair. The result was a fluffy and voluminous bundle of hair.
