When you are interviewing for a job, appearance is a very important factor in deciding whether you will get the job or not! Find out here what interviewers pay attention to.

1. Don’t forget deodorant. Nobody likes to be around things that smell, and same goes for hiring managers. Your body odor could distract them from noticing other more important things.

2. Little things matter. Including your nails. It could be the deciding factor between choosing you or another person with the same capability. If your nails are well kept, with no chipped nail polish or dirty tips, it shows that you pay attention to detail.

3. Be professional. The people hiring you would prefer if you remain strictly business and don’t talk about things unrelated to what you are there for. They don’t have time to spare chatting with a stranger.

4. Keep accessories to a minimum. It can also be distracting if you have too many pieces of jewelry strung all over your body, especially if they are jingly.

5. Take care of your toes. Your feet usually are not the best looking parts of your body, so you want to keep them looking as nice as possible or even hidden. It is disturbing to see dirty toenails, even if it has nothing to do with the job you are trying to get.

6. Neat hair is important. Going to an interview with messy, unkempt hair leaves a bad first impression. If you are having a bad hair day, putting it in a ponytail would be your safest bet. Need more hairstyle ideas?

7. Keep it simple. Don’t cake your face with makeup. Ever. Click here for a natural makeup tutorial.

8. Break bad habits. Try to keep your hands away from your nails, nose, and face. A hiring manager advises, “You can use your hands for expression, but when you’re listening, just keep them on your lap or folded on the table.”

Find out what the three final tips are here.

Keep these tips in mind when you interview for a job, and it will most likely help you get the job!
