How skinny is skinny? And what’s this about skinny models providing incentives for obese people to lose weight? Well, that’s what Italian researchers have to say after conducting this interesting study. After all, seeing those skinny models encourages all of us to not eat too much and get fat. Not only that but diversifying the runways to have models of all different size strut their stuff and make us think that it’s ok to look how we currently are isn’t the best idea.

Dr. Savorelli and Dr. Dragone had this to say about their study, “If being overweight is the average condition and the ideal body weight is thin, increasing the ideal body weight may increase welfare by reducing social pressure.

They think that using larger models provides a negative effect on society and makes women believe that their weight is good for them, even when it’s not good for them. These researchers also found evidence that said that people eat more when they see pictures of heavier people and eat less when they see pictures of skinny people.

So eating less is the key to being skinny? I knew that, but it’s not healthy for you. Neither is pigging out on lots of food. Best compromise? Eat healthy and exercise. Although, that’s just another story.
