When Justin Beiber’s new fragrance, Someday, dropped last week, many were surprised at how similar its bottle design resembled Marc Jacobs’s Lola perfume. With both of the bottles sporting a shiny, red bloom, and aimed at the same youth market with its fruity, floral scent, it was an issue that couldn’t be ignored.

WWD got a chance to chat with Marc Jacobs himself to ask for his thoughts on the situation:

Does [Justin Beiber's Someday] remind you of anything?
M.J.: Yep, yep. We just had a conversation about it. Coty said, “Do we sue them?” and I said, “You know what? Let everyone else say what they want.” I received Google [Alerts] about people saying it was derivative. We’re not going to do anything about it.

That bottle is very similar to your Lola.
M.J.: But you know, I look around the room and I look at the work we’ve done and a quote I always bastardize but I really believe in, is something Chanel said: “He who insists on his own creativity has no memory.”

No controversy here, which is good for both parties. But for fun, would you pick up Lola or Someday?

Oi, that is lucky to dodge a lawsuit. Nothing good publicity for Bieber XP
I was thinking that the formula was the same, but if it’s just the bottle, eh. Although the designer must be mad raspberry

both of the packaging looks great!


I would have to smell the fragrances first before saying Lola or Someday. Glad that Jacobs is not going to sue.
