The Sephora by OPI nail polish series is an exclusive collaboration between the two brands and offers up a wide collection of the colorfully named shades. Hearing a name like “The Way Tutu His Heart,” it’s hard to not want to be reeled in. I admit I’m a sucker for the cute names that OPI gives its polishes. So I thought I’d give this one a try, for its daintily-named persuasion.

Color: From bottle to nail the light pink and creamy shade is very pretty and a nice alternative to get white nails with a touch more sweetness.

Application: With it’s light color, I would account that to why it applied a bit streaky. For the first coat, it was pretty sheer and streaky. Two coats, it got a bit better but still a couple streaks. Three coats and the streak problem went away.

Part of it may be from the mini version that I got versus the full sized bottle, which would come with a slightly larger brush. But with this light shade, it really just needs an extra coat or two. Definitely not that great-looking to just have one coat though, since it just isn’t opaque enough.

Survival: I would guess it’s due to the three coats that I had of it (rather than two like the other shade I tried), but with no top coat, it got to 2 days before showing signs of chipping.

Overall: It’s available as a full bottle ($9.50 for 0.5 oz)or included in Sephora’s mini polish collections, like the Urban Ballerina Mini Collection, which lets you try out a variety of of colors in smaller and cute sizes. For my impressions, I wish that it wouldn’t apply so streaky in the first couple coats, mainly just because it’s a bit time consuming to have to do at least three coats. But color-wise, it’s actually really pretty, so I can deal.

I would definitely be sporting this one for those times that you want something just feminine and sweet that is a bit easier to pass off as “natural-looking.” Tutu, you are going to be one tough cookie to drop.
