Reviewing Tarte’s Amazonian 12-Hour Clay Blush in Glisten was something of an adventure for me. Shockingly, I’ve never really worn blush until now. This is a first in the 12 years that I’ve been wearing makeup (I am old.)! My aversion to blush was mostly due to me not being knowledgeable enough to care for the scars and dark spots that acne has left on my cheeks. Now that I’m 26 and more sophisticated by the way I handle my skin and my concealing, I was compelled to try out my very first blush. Also, wouldn’t you be compelled especially because this blush claims to last for 12 hours?

The Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush is sun-baked and mostly made of Amazonian Clay. Apparently this clay is found on the banks of the Amazon River, then refined and processed into Tarte cosmetics products where they claim that it helps mattify oily skin, provide moisture for dry skin while improving the brightness and clarity of your complexion. As with all Tarte cosmetics, everything is pretty much organic.

Here’s a close-up of Glisten:

Glisten does indeed, glisten. I would easily describe it as a shiny, peachy pink with slightly large glitter particles that kind of fall off as you dust your brush across the blush. The glitter may intimidate, I found that it’s not as obnoxious as it may look in the compact. Here’s a swatch of it on my arm:

And here it is on my face:

Although it’s not obvious on the above picture, I found that Glisten gives tan/warm skin a nice peachy pink glow. If you’re looking tired, Glisten is a great way to perk up your face. Even better if you’ve got oily skin like I do — the Amazonian Clay acting as a mattifier is no joke. And yes, it did last me 12 hours.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Glisten has really made this adventure in trying blush for the first time a fun one. It’s easily now my go-to blush. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to add a peachy pink glow to your face.
