Sometimes, I prefer to put on lip wear that is between lip gloss and lip balm. It moisturizes and shimmers faintly yet isn’t sticky. That is perfect for when one is on the go and still wants to have fabulous lips. Therefore, I am all for the tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Luster in Sweet! Let’s take a closer look.

First off, I gotta say the design is really cute. The colors of the Sweet stick are a pink shimmery pink with a shimmery light purple cap (Princess colors!!). When I took off the top, inside was a….peachy pink crayon with a touch of red? Well, it reminded me of one, except longer but chubbier. You can twist the lip luster stick up and down from the bottom, as you would a regular lipstick. I was a bit worried about the cap at first, thinking that it could squish the tip of the lip luster if I pushed down too hard while closing. Nope, it will not! If you happen to have/get one, you can look inside the cap and see why.

Here is what tarte.com claims about this product: “This natural lip tint will give you kissable lips that shimmer & shine all day! Clinically proven: 6000% increase in lips’ moisture content in 28 days!” I’m not sure about the “all day” part, and I will have to use this a while longer before I can see if my lips’ moisture content increases like they say. It “delivers a surge of moisture on a cellular level for a naturally plumped up appearance while natural peppermint adds a refreshing burst of flavor with each application.” Some key ingredients include: jojoba seed oil, peppermint oil, vitamin C, and vitamin E.

Here’s an idea of the color:

I like the way it smells, a not-too-strong minty scent. Also, when you apply the luster onto your lips, it feels a little tingly and minty also. That reminded me of Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmers, though not as strong. There wasn’t much of a color difference when I drew it across my lips, hence why a picture wouldn’t do it justice, but there was a lovely light shimmer and natural enhancement that I liked. Best of all, it’s not sticky at all! Accidentally wipe some off? You get some pretty fine shimmer on your hand.

So, all that being said, I recommend this Natural Lip Luster, whether if you would try this shade or another in the series. One particular concern I have is the twist function at the bottom of the stick. If it were to rest in a bag with a bunch of other stuff, it could twist and the tip would be destroyed without you even knowing. Also, it isn’t the smallest/thinnest cosmetic item ever. Other than that, I enjoy using it and it feels smoothly amazing. For the Sweet shade, go here for purchase info. I would definitely consider buying this in the future!
