I’ve been looking for something that I could use as a primer to smooth out my face before applying thicker coverups for my face so that it won’t settle into the wrinkles and dry areas on my face and I thought I’d give the Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Illuminating Serum a try.

Sephora says, “Ideal for all skin types, this natural skin brightener is infused with Amazonian clay, vitamins, and tea extract to moisturize and replenish the skin. This healing clay completely neutralizes any negative skin condition so that you are left with a healthy, radiant complexion.”

Here it is swatched on my arm (pardon the tan line from my watch).

It felt really smooth upon application and was easy to blend out. It has subtle golden shimmers in it to brighten the look of your skin and it has an overall sheer coverage that blends in well with a variety of skin tones. my skin did feel a little bit smoother in comparison to bare skin. It has a very faint scent that is hard to pinpoint and describe as anything other than “natural”. Over the course of the day it didn’t make me look oily which was something I was concerned about considering the shimmer in the product.

Overall, I think this is a decent product that looks good when used alone, or as a primer under another product. It would also be a great choice for those of you that are more concious about the ingredients as this has Sephora’s “natural seal” because it is formulated without:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Synthetic Dyes
- Petrochemicals
- Phthalates
- GMOs
- Triclosan

If you’d like to try it out yourself, you can get it here.
