Pink, pink, so many different shades of pink in the world, and I happen to like pink. That’s a good thing, as lots of lip gloss shades are, indeed, shades…of…pink. Such is the case with smashbox’s Lip Enhancing Gloss True Color in Pout! The color can only be described as baby doll pink.
Let me elaborate a little more on the very cute color of “Pout.” It would make a very good nail polish color, in my opinion. There is a little shimmer effect in the gloss, though it doesn’t stand out. Sorry the photos didn’t capture the true color very well! The actual shade is lighter and more light pink with shimmer.
Here is what smashbox has to say about the True Color glosses in the Lip Enhancing Gloss Collection: “Drench your lips in luminous color and shine with LIP ENHANCING GLOSS. This gloss keeps lips soft and smooth… Enhance your lips like never before. Winner of Allure Magazine’’s Editor’’s Choice Award for Best Lip Gloss… TRUE COLOR - Vitamin E and sunflower seed oil nourish with a touch of creamy color and soft radiant shine. Velour wand perfectly contours lips.”
Here is a picture of the velour wand! I prefer this kind over the brush-like applicators.
The texture is a little bit sticky, but not enough to have me complain about it (I’m picky, trust me). My lips felt smooth and hydrated after, looking more full. There was a visible shimmer and lighter shade to them too, though produced more of a gloss shine than color. The gloss itself doesn’t disappear that easily, and the shininess isn’t like “BAM I’M SHINY.” Just right. It lasted me a couple hours after applying it before I had to go eat, thus wipe off the gloss. Not much color comes off, just a very very light hint of pink. The scent is sweet, not overpowering in any way. I don’t now how else to describe it, really.
Overall, I liked this lip gloss. Definitely prefer it over the smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss Sheer Color in Pop (cool pink) I reviewed a couple months back. If you’re interested, go here to purchase for $18.00 each, as well as look through the other colors. This would be the full-size 0.2 fl. oz one. The one I reviewed was a mini (0.12 fl.oz). Personally, I wouldn’t go out and buy the product. It is a little pricier than some, but then again, gotta consider it IS smashbox we’re talking about here.
Score: 4/5
