According to lead stylist Renato Campora of Manchesa, the hair above is a “lot more interesting than a basic ponytail.” I can’t agree more! It looks like it might take little more time than usual, but the results look like they’re worth it.
So how do you acheive this? First, make sure it’s completely dry-blown. Then apply hair mousse so that the ponytail will stay more in place. Then, straighten your hair with a straightener and create a deep-side part at the top of the head (separate the front side).
Then you do the most basic step: tying a low ponytail. After securing with an elastic band, you’ll need that section of hair you separated to conceal the hair elastic later on. Now for the arsty part: First divide the ponytail in two sections. Then create a fishtail 3 inches below the knot (where the elastic is, and the fishbraid tutorial is right here!) Secure everything with bobby pin and finish it off with a nice touch of hair spray!
Yes it may seem a little confusing at first, but this is something that’s not set in stone. You can alter the hairstyle in your own way as well!
