Throughout the years since the younger teen chapter of my life, I’ve used several different brands of facial cleansers for my sensitive skin. Some worked well for me, and others…not too much. I recently tried out Shiseido’s Skincare Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam plus the Hydro-Nourishing Softener together as a set, so I’m including them both in one review. Let’s see how well they worked!
I’ll start with the cleansing foam:
The description reads, “A creamy rich-lathering cleanser that lifts away makeup and impurities while leaving skin smooth, balanced, and ready for further treatment.”
The instructions on the back of the tube reads, “Work up a rich lather and massage over face. Rinse thoroughly.” Indeed, it takes off all makeup on my face and is extra gentle at the same time so that my skin isn’t red or blotchy after use. The formula is really smooth and the shade is a pearly white.
Applying it onto my face was really easy and it feels wonderful. The scent is a light fresh fragrance that I don’t know how to describe at all, but it is relaxing.
Following the cleanser, I then used the softener.
It is “a dual-action hydrating and exfoliating lotion that transforms the skin’s texture in an instant. Improves clarity, radiance, and moisture retention.” After cleansing the face, you saturate a cotton ball with this softener and the wipe it all over your face, gently. It works like a lotion, except that it’s liquid. I can tell the difference after applying it on my skin. It feels a lot smoother and refreshed.
My mini products are 75 ml and 100 ml. The full-sized products are bigger than my smaller ones, and are not the cheapest products ever on the official Shiseido site. The Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam is 125 ml, costing $30.50. The price of the Hydro-Nourishing Softener is even better (sarcasm here), a nice $35.00 for 150 mL.
Considering the fact that this is a well-known brand of skin care products, it’s a bit pricier. Still, I recommend this product for those who have a little extra money they could spend on their skin! I have quite a few more cleansers to go through before considering if I would want to purchase these two products.
Score: 5/5
