Seeing one too many ulzzang and modern gyaru pictures, the nude lip look always seems to make an appearance somehow. The subtle effects of pairing a toned down lip with bold and big eyes is something that I find looks very pretty - when done the right way and with that perfect shade of nude that isn’t too overwhelming or fake-looking. Reading that the Marrakech shade was described as nude, I thought I’d give Buxom’s Big & Healthy Lip Stick a try.

With this lip stick, it was actually in a stick design (vs. the tube form that most lipsticks come in), which makes it pretty intriguing and seems like it would give a lot more control with the pencil-like form. It’s described as “a three-in-one lip perfector that works hard for the money,” since it was made to perform three jobs - define your lips like a liner, fill them in with their creamy velvet color formula, and then plump them to their full potential” - definitely convenient.

Application: With the pencil-like tip, it makes it supremely easy to direct the color where you want it to go on your lips. Lining them is seriously a breeze and then filling them in with the same tip seemed to bring me back a bit to those childhood coloring days. The

Concerning the formula, it is that perfect amount of rich that it can still glide on smoothly onto your lips if you’ve applied something before. On bare lips, it takes a bit of effort before your lip body heat warms it up a bit to be swiped on without effort. There’s also lots of good things like vitamins A, C, and E mixed with mango and avocado butters that really treats your lips to some hydration as well.

After I finished applying, there was a slight cool tingling sensation that Buxom products are apparently known for. It was a bit unexpected to feel, since none of my other lip products bring a sensation like this, but it wasn’t unpleasant at all (though if you aren’t a fan of cool tingles, it does gradually go away after about 25 minutes). I’m guessing this is where the plumping action comes from, and while I didn’t notice that big of a difference on my own lips, it does keep them pretty full.

Color: With the “nude” descriptor that Marrakech boasts, I found it fits pretty well. The pictures make it a bit more orange-y, but it’s a bit closer to a nude type of beige that would match light to medium skin tones. When I first applied it, I thought it seemed too light for my lips, but after a couple minutes, it absorbed in a bit more and left me with a type of light matte nude lip that wasn’t too drastic or too little - close to the realm of just right.

For lasting power, it does pretty well. While it will slightly come off after eating or drinking, during the day, it stays pretty true to how you applied it with maybe a bit of fading (if you didn’t apply gloss or anything over), but it does so in a way that the whole lip fades rather than just that awkward inner ring that leads to uneven lip color.

Overall: The quality of the Big & Healthy Lip Stick would definitely make me open to go try out more colors from the line. The particular shade of Marrakech does satisfy my nude lip product search, though I would still be on the lookout for one that is a bit more suited to my skin color, since this one is a touch light. I’d would totally recommend this product to anyone who’s seeking looking for that all-in-one lip product that is super easy to use.

Mainly sold at Sephora for $18, you can also get it for about a dollar cheaper if you go the Amazon route.
