I was pretty skeptical earlier this year about the bright lipstick trend until I saw what it looked like on Vy. Since her testing of Borghese’s Primale Pink (which is basically a bright fuchsia), I’ve been kind of obsessed with finding that perfect bright fuchsia shade (apparently on my cheeks too). Happy was I to find that the Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick (in the Fifth Avenue Fuchsia shade) that was handed to me during fashion week (like the previous one reviewed), was that bright shade of fuchsia I’d been looking for.
Swatched on arm:
Unlike the Maybelline Colorsensational High Shine Lipstick, the regular Maybelline Colorsensational lipstick has a matte finish and its staying power is unbelievably long. It seems to me that matte lipsticks have a better staying power than shiny, glossy lipstick. The finish on shiny lipstick is slick and easy to remove. One application of FIfth Avenue Fuschia lasted me a good 6 hours. That swatch on my arm took three showers to get rid of completely. I know I could’ve used cleansing oil or some sort of oil to remove it but I was just curious to see how long it would last, that’s all. Aside from being incredibly longwearing, it was also very moisturizing.
Here’s my mug with it on:
I am smiling because I am super pleased with this lipstick and this shade. It’s also cheap and you can find it at your local drugstore for $7.49. Two thumbs up!
