Sometimes we find ourselves buying any beauty product which sounds like it could help us have that perfectly toned smooth skin, however is it too much? There are some that you might find out you really didn’t need to buy…but a little too late. Let’s take a look at the five beauty products you don’t need!

First up is makeup primer, which is designed to temporarily smooth out your skin on the lips, eyelids and face with silicones and polymers. Though Jim Hammer, a cosmetics chemist at Pharmasol Labs says, “most contain waxes that bond with cosmetics to give them longevity.”

If you are prone to allergies, contact dermatitis, or milia, a primer won’t do much and you should skip it, also you can skip this product if you have velvety complexions.

Toners supposedly eliminates oil, tightens pores, and gets the skin ready to absorb active ingredients in other products. But the people who actually need toners are those “with extremely oily skin,” according to Ranella Hirsch, M.D., vice president of the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery.

If you have normal, dry or sensitive complexions, which is almost most of the population, tones will actually overdry your skin, or it makes your glands pump out more oil to prevent dehydration.

Next up is eye cream. It’s meant to iron out wrinkles with collagen-building peptides, others have depuffing diuretics, like caffeine, and anti-inflammatory botanicals. People who should use this cream are those with sensitive skin, puffiness, and fine lines. Traditional moisturizer is usually OK to use around the eyes. For puffiness, choose a gel with chamomile or caffeine.

People who don’t need this cream are the women who regularly moisturize, since the cream that they use generally contain the ingredients in eye cream already.

Night cream is suppose to be a heavy-duty moisturizer, these creams normally have a variety of oils, lipids and humectants. Some may have peptides and retinol. People who need this cream are those with “dry or mature skin, especially in the winter.” If you have sun damage, wrinkles or an irritation a night cream would probably do the trick. However if you already use a day cream, which has the same ingredients, then it could further irritate your skin, rather than help.

For people who oily skin, you should skip using these creams. Instead, you would be better off using a oil-free lotion at night also people with a prescription drug for acne, rosacea, or sun damage should check with their doctors before trying a night cream.

Topical Wrinkle Filler it’s like a primer, however a filler is said to fill in the wrinkles physically by creating a smooth film over the skin. Some of these fillers use hyaluronic acid to draw water into the skin and plump up wrinkles while others use silicone or nylon microspheres to fill in lines.

People who need this product is for anyone who wants to camouflage lines. “Fillers may not be able to mask deep creases, but they can improve the texture of skin, making it look and feel smoother,” says Macrene Alexiades-Armenakas, an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the Yale University School of Medicine.

People who can skip this product are women with smooth, youthful complexions already.
