This past summer saw an unusual amount of lip & cheek stains. Being ever so ignorant of the seasons, I’m here to say that lip and cheek stains should be a year-round beauty staple. They’re the ultimate beauty multitasker and a god send for the lazy (me). Stila’s Lip & Cheek Stain in Mango Crush is yet another beauty product I got for free from New York Fashion Week. This baby was in my gift bag from the Walter presentation and so a review must be done.

What’s unique about Stila’s Mango Crush Lip & Cheek Stain (and all of their lip & cheek stains) is that they contain fruit extracts that interact with your pH levels to achieve the perfect shade stain that suitable for you. In other words, Stila’s Lip & Cheek Stains will work on you no matter what color you are and they’ll look different on each person. Here’s a swatch of what it looks like on me:

For me, Mango Crush is shimmery, coral/peach color. Here’s what it looks like on half of my lips for comparison purposes:

And my lips covered in full with the Mango Crush Lip & Cheek Stain:

Both lips and cheeks:

On the cheeks its also a coral/peach color. If anyone wanted to go for a trendy monochromatic look, Stila’s Lip & Cheek Stain is a pretty easy way to execute it. The stain will last on both your lips and cheeks for at least 8 hours — fantastic! While this is great, there’s just two things about it that I wasn’t excited about.

For one, the shimmer on your lips will start to become super obvious as the stain fades over time. The color will fade, and you’ll be left with silver sparkles and frosty lips. Another thing I had an issue with is that it’s not the most hygienic product. It’s a click pen with a brush that’s intended for both your lips AND cheeks. To avoid holding the brush to my cheeks to apply the stain, I clicked a little bit of the product onto my hand and used clean fingers to blend the product onto my cheeks. I don’t intend on using the brush on the cheeks but I can imagine that the stain may come out unevenly on your cheeks compared to using your fingers in a circular motion. Despite this though, I still had a great time with the product and I love that it’s great for quick makeup application.
