Even though it’s officially fall now, sunscreen is still an important thing to apply everyday. Though you don’t need to slather on the heavy waterproof stuff that we usually associate with the hot summer, it’s pretty good to just have something with a bit of SPF at the bare minimum. Checking out Shiseido’s Day Moisture Protection SPF 15, I thought I’d give it a try to see if it could be that perfect daily sunscreen that I needed.

One of the things that drew me to this was that it is not only a sunscreen, but actually a daytime moisturizer as well. Pretty nice, since that meant it could potentially replace my other moisturizer and allow me to accomplish two steps in one - handy for those time-limited mornings.

From its description, it is apparently specially formulated to “provide optimal hydration and balance in skin while protecting against UVB rays and the damaging effects of other environmental factors” - very appealing.

Application + Scent: As a moisturizer and sunscreen, the formula ends up surprisingly very lightweight. I was expecting something along the lines of how normal sunscreen is that would take a while to blend out. But nope, this was more so on the liquid-y side, almost like a serum. But with that, you seriously only need a tiny amount (maybe about 2-3 drops) for your entire face.

Not to mention how easily it spread and absorbed into my skin, which was something that really impressed me, since it also didn’t leave any greasy residue and prepped my skin to a moisturized state for foundation (or etc.) after.

Scent wise, it was very pleasantly delicate and not overpowering with the traditional sunscreen smell. It was more lotion-like, but in a very clean and milky way that reminds me of other gentle moisturizers, or how Shiseido scents usually go.

Overall: Aimed for those at normal and combination skin, I’d say that it definitely delivers. Though those with sensitive skin could possible be okay with it too, since it didn’t seem too rough to me. Unless the slight scent would irritate you. But generally, it’s a pretty solid moisturizer. My skin definitely felt protected and moisturized to boot after using it. And I seriously love that the texture is so silky, which makes it really easy to use and apply quickly.

Priced at $40.50 for a 75 ml / 2.5 fl. oz. bottle, it’s a bit of an investment, though with how it also has moisturizing abilities alongside the sunscreen, you’re getting exactly what it claims to provide. Plus, since you only need a two drops at most, a bottle will last you a really long time.

Score: 5/5
