Fact: Oily skin still requires moisturizer. As someone with oily skin, I’ve been reaching for anything lightweight and oil-free. Unfortunately to make things slightly tricky, my skin is acne-prone. Lightweight and oil-free has been fairing decently for me, but there are just those times (mostly that time of the month) that I wish my moisturizer would also help prevent and heal whatever acne situation I have on my face. Enter the Clinique Acne Solutions Clearing Moisturizer. A moisturizer that’s lightweight, oil-free and said to reduce redness, keep oil under control while still hydrating the skin AND treat acne.
The moisturizer is lightweight and will absorb into your skin quickly. What I found really fascinating is that it diminishes the post-face washing redness! As for oil control, I have to say that this is the best oil controlling product I’ve ever used. Skin still does get oily but only after 6 hours for me. Breakouts still occur, but they’re not as crazy as before. This is all due to the fact that it contains some benzoyl peroxide (2.5%).
Since it does contain benzoyl peroxide I found that the first few days of use in both AM and PM, my skin was quite dry. As instructed on the package, I reduced the amount of my usage to every other day until the dryness was kept under control.
Overall, I find that the Clinique Acne Solutions Clearing Moisturizer delivers on all its claims. I recommend it to anyone with oily, acne-prone skin — just heed my note about how it can dry your skin.
