Blue nail polish. It’s all the hot stuff for Fall 2011. Blue nail polish comes in a huge range; from sky blue to midnight blue; from Chanel to Sallie Hansen; from matte to a glitter finish.

Nail polish wasn’t actually INVENTED at any time. Royalties in Ancient China used nail polish in 3000 BC but in the Western side of the world, nail polish was first made around the 1920s.

Celebrities who love Blue Nail Polish

Stephanie Pratt: She’s decking out a shade of cobalt blue polish at the Middle Men premiere.

Mena Suvari: She wears a navy polish at the Somewhere premiere.

Kelly Osbourne: She wears navy blue nail to match with her navy coloured clutch at the American Music Awards.

Victoria Beckham wears a midnight blue shade (very black) as she touches down in London.

Alexa Chung: She sports an icy blue to her pale shirt.

Picking the right shade of Blue Polish
Blue nail polish CAN be tricky. Normally dark shades are more flattering than lighter ones, so midnight blue can be the best shade to choose. Light polish can give pale skinned women a pallid look, so if you are pale, test them polish on one nail first.

When to wear Blue Nail Polish
The are no REAL rules to when to wear nail polish, but here are some general rules:

DO NOT wear blue nail polish to job interviews unless you are applying in the creative field. Darker polish tends to work better.

If you are in the banking, law or finance field for your occupation, try to steer away from blue, as these fields have stricter rules.

For summer, wear bright and fun shades, like aqua or teal. In fall or winter, darker shades like navy or midnight blue will work the magic. To make them more fun, you could try some metallics.

Well, that’s your guide to blue nail polish!
