With how much of a buzz BB creams have gotten, whether you hear it mentioned as the makeup of choice in Korean entertainment or even the budding interest with American brands, it’s definitely been on my list to try. Hearing about Missha’s M Shiny BB Cream SPF 27, it’s was an instant contender that I couldn’t wait to try out and see if it lived up to the hype of what seems like just a tinted moisturizer.

Coverage/Shade: Considering it’s a BB cream and not full-on foundation, I found the coverage pretty satisfactory. It was light, but it was able to at least even out my skin tone pretty well. And with the “Shiny” mentioned in the name, it gave a medium dewy finish. Though one of the things that I was a bit apprehensive about was just how “shiny” it might be, but it, thankfully, doesn’t go too overboard.

With its texture, it’s meant to be a bit watery, which ends up adding to the moisturizing properties pretty well - so no complaints here. There’s also a slight perfume-y smell, but it wasn’t really bothersome since it was so light. Instead, it just added to the…prettiness.

Though I do have to note, that this particular brand of BB cream from Missha only comes in one shade. Seen above, it’s pretty light, though I was lucky enough to be pretty fair and so it matched. But for those that aren’t so light…this might not work out so well, especially since it doesn’t settle down to that much of a difference after sitting and oxygenating on your skin for a bit.

It’s hard to see from the pictures, there’s actually a bit of sparkle with the dewy finish, in the form of fine glitter pieces. It didn’t really bother me that they were there, especially since it is really fine and not that noticeable unless you’re standing in direct sunlight and checking your face out super close in the mirror. From far away, it just looks like a really lovely and pearly glow. For photos, it’s definitely a plus, since it brings in more light to your face and helps to bring that flawless skin look that everyone desires…

Face shot (excuse my sleepy mug):

Overall: For living up to its name and being a good first introduction into the world of BB Cream, I definitely like the results. I would totally turn to it again for those time-limited mornings that I need to get ready, though for me (and if I have time), I would need to add in a concealer step for my dark circles…But skin-wise, it’s pretty amazing and with the added benefits of having SPF, it’s really nice overall.

Score: 4.5/5
