It sort of seems silly, right? I mean, goth dudes and rockers have been sporting the polish way before this…so what’s so special? Creator and founder of the line Marco Berardini has an answer for us:
If you’re wearing a Rolex with chewed, scraggly nails, it’s a contradiction of sorts. Whether it’s the perfect, clean manicure, suggesting success and power, or a bold color to show they’re not confined to society’s rules, [wearing polish is] a way to express who they are. It is definitely less permanent than a tattoo, and you can change the color depending on your choice of mood or fashion.
Definitely an interesting concept to build a new line on. Though the colors in the line have a bit more variety than I expected, especially after hearing “nail polish for guys,” which was also explained:
I love strong colors that make a bold statement with a stark contrast on the skin. I especially like matte finishes — they feel new, modern and masculine… in the past, the most popular colors for men have been black, blue, and white. Much like new car finishes on the market right now, I wanted metallic colors that were a modern interpretation of old favorites.
While they don’t seem to be available on the website yet, the more…traditional male products look pretty nice and maybe a better contender as a gift for the upcoming holidays.
But what do you guys think? Do guys need to get their own nail polish?
