When you’re just starting out in makeup, it can be a bit overwhelming trying to find out what colors work the best for your eye color and skin tone. Among all the possibilities, there are a few looks that work beautifully on everyone and are universally flattering. If you need a bit of a guide to know where to start, you should definitely consider picking up a few of these items.
Purple Eyes
There’s just a certain something special that comes about when you use purple on your eyes. Using it in place of your standard black does well to give things a bright twist, but not go too overbold to make it look too wild. For eyeshadow, a lighter lilac or lavender shade will highlight brown/hazel eyes well, while a darker eggplant draws the right type of attention to blue/green eyes.
Red Lips
There’s a reason why the red lip is called a classic. Even though it can seem intimidating, there’s definitely a red lipstick for every woman. But if you’re a bit confused as to where to start off, an orangey-red shade tends to look good on most skin tones. Compared to blue-reds, which are richer, but are harder to pull off with their bold finish. Try to stick to a tone that doesn’t draw attention to any redness on the rest of your face.
Pink Cheeks
In being a color that your body is able to naturally produce, it’s almost a given that a flushed pink cheek will look good…since it’s pretty much natural. Though for those who are on the more oliive or dark skin tone side, sporting a pink blushed cheek does well to add definition and a nice warmness overall.
