Oh winter. You just love to bring out the chilly and brisk winds, don’t you? With bundling up, it’s also important to amp up the level of moisture that you give your skin. If you can’t reapply your normal lotion throughout the day, applying something that is a but heavier is a nice alternative to making sure that your skin doesn’t dry out from the harshness of the elements. So hearing about the Sea Salt Body Butter from H2O+, I thought I’d give it a shot to see if it could provide the moisture my skin needs for this upcoming winter.
Scent: While it’s not the most determinate factor to whether I pick up a certain lotion, or in this case, body butter, I’m still influenced a bit to like something if it smells good. With this, it’s suppose to have an “oceanside scent,” hence the “sea salt” in the name. But from my own nose, I couldn’t get over how much it smelled like cleaner fluid…like in some sense, it’s fresh but really not what I was expecting. Not to mention that it’s a bit strong and sticks for a while on your skin while the body butter is absorbing in.
For me, it’s not super pleasant or soothing. Though it does make me want to go clean something. But for something I put on my skin, I don’t really enjoy smelling like…a window. I guess this “freshness” is just too much for me.
Results: Despite the scent, it does moisturize well. It’s pretty thick as you expect a body butter to be, though it applies easily. The formula fits for the higher level of nourishment that you want for your dry skin. Plus it has shea butter and coconut oils in its ingredients, so those are definite contributors for it to be an effective hydrator.
Overall: Priced from $6.50-$19.50, depending on what size you get, it’s not priced too bad. But for me, I couldn’t handle the scent, so I wouldn’t really turn to it again. It might end up smelling different to you if you get a chance to sniff it, but for me - it’s a pass, even though it does do pretty well at moisturizing. It’s possible that I could mix it with a perfume, but then that defeats the purpose of buying something to use as is.
Score: 2/5
