Whether you love it or hate it, Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 is taking its influence out of dominating the box office this past weekend, to still being a notable interest for society’s obsession with vampires. In the beauty world, some fans are even dedicated enough to go as far as to add permanent fangs to their smiles. New York City-based cosmetic dentist Gregg Lituchy, D.D.S. (clients include supermodel Heidi Klum) had a bit to share about this latest craze.

Being in dentistry for 27 years, Dr. Lituchy has seen most veneer patients requesting them to be round, flatten, and to soften the ends of their teeth. Though in the past year or so, it seems the opposite style has started to emerge. Now it has become popular with patients to request that the top two canine teeth be shaped pointy, similar to a vampire.

To get an idea of how common is it for patients to ask for these vampire-inspired teeth, Dr. Lituchy says that if he is doing about 10 veneer cases a week, usually two of the patients will ask for their canine teeth to be shaped pointy.

Cost-wise for these vampire fang veneers, it actually doesn’t cost anything additional past the standard cost of around $2,000 to $2,500 per tooth. So whether you get them shaped traditionally round or to fulfill your vampire love, it’s all the same since veneers are intended to be custom designed to provide you with your wanted smile.

Kind of cool to see the influence, if not entirely from Twilight, but just how something like love of vampires can have its effect in something other than just merchandise or the box office.
