Last week, the world comemorated one of the beauty’s industry’s most important woman, Evelyn Lauder. She passed away last Saturday at the age of 75, from ovarian cancer. Lauder is and has always been a beauty brand that is very iconic in the industry. Here are some of Evelyn’s most memorable contributions.
1. Breast Cancer Research
Evelyn was one the most powerful forces in fighting against breast cancer. She founded The Breast Cancer Research Foundation in 1993. This is foundation is now the largest national organization devoted to breast cancer research.
2. The Pink Ribbon
The world famous pink ribbon. Who’s the mastermind behind this icon? Yes, it was Evelyn Lauder. She created the sign back in 1992 when she was the editor of Self Magazine. This was meant to be a reminder to all women telling them to get themselves checked. Statistics show that ever since the ribbon symbol was created, more that 65 million have been distributed worldwide.
3. Innovation
As you should all now, Evelyn Lauder is also the vice president and head behind the fragrance development for Estee Lauder.
4. Giving Back
Not only did Lauder take part in breast cancer awareness, she aso created the Evelyn and Leonard Lauder Foundation with her husband. Through this charity, she battled issues from education to women’s causes.
She shall always be remembered, may she rest in peace.
