Though they usually sit pretty on the sides of your face, when you’re thinking about anti-aging areas, you don’t generally think that your earlobes will give you away, do you? But recently, they’ve taken the spotlight and more and more people are getting ear jobs to fix their sagging earlobes (commonly caused by sporting those pretty, but heavy earrings).

Though the earlobe correction surgery is fairly quick and commonly done alongside a facelift, it seems almost silly to be so focused on it. But surprisingly, saggy earlobes are a big giveaway that one is getting old, which is something that many fear.

Wendy Lewis, cosmetic surgery adviser and editor of beautyinthebag.com shares, “It is no secret that more women are having what could be called a “lobe job.” Gravity takes its toll on earlobes — they droop like chins and breasts do, and can make you look older.”

“Years of wearing heavy earrings also cause the lobe to get stretched out of shape. An earlobe reduction is a simple op that reshapes the earlobe to a better proportion. Another issue for women is a torn earlobe, where the hole from a pierced ear gets so stretched that the lobe tears open and has to be stitched together.”

Though if it seems a bit too excessive for you to be spending money on something like your earlobes, you could just lay off the heavy earrings…or go stud.

Thoughts? Would you ever consider a “ear job”?
